As this year comes to a close, I would like to say to all my 8th grade students that it was a pleasure teaching you Georgia History this year.  I wish you the very best in the future and hope that you continue to take your education very seriously.  It is the key to your future.  May all your dreams come true and remember that the only one who will ever stop you from reaching the stars is you.  Have a great summer!!

Essential Questions:  How did politics and business lead Georgia into the modern era?  What effect did it have on Georgia’s growth?

Learning Goal:  Students will analyze how politics and business work together to bring economic growth and prosperity to Georgia.

In Class:  Today the students viewed a Power Point on Modern Georgia.

Homework:  Review for the Unit 10 Vocab. Quiz tomorrow.  Continue to review for the Unit 10 Test Friday.

d. Discuss President Roosevelt’s ties to Georgia including his visits to Warm Springs and his impact on the state.

State Standards:  SS8H10 The student will evaluate key post-World War II developments of Georgia from 1945 to 1970.

a. Analyze the impact of the transformation of agriculture on Georgia’s growth.

b. Explain how the development of Atlanta, including the roles of mayors William B. Hartsfield and Ivan Allen, Jr., and major league sports, contributed to the growth of Georgia.

Essential Question:  How did World War II impact Georgia.  Describe the major changes in the state.

Learning Goal:  Why were chages made in Georgia after World War II?  Who was responsible for these changes?  Analyze the implication in Georgia after World War II.

In Class:  Today the students took notes on a Power Point presentation about World War II and its impact on Georgia.

Homework:  Review for next Wednesday’s Vocab. Quiz.  Review for next Friday’s Unit 10 Test.
